Marcel Valenta advises entrepreneurs, private equity sponsors and businesses of diverse industries and size in their full range of corporate governance and transactional needs. He has represented buyers and sellers in mergers, acquisitions and spin-offs totaling multiple billions of dollars in value. He also has significant commercial experience having spent a portion of his career as counsel to Hewlett-Packard’s Industry Standard Server and Software Business in Palo Alto, California. A native German, Marcel frequently represents clients in in-and outbound cross-border deals and assists foreign companies entering the U.S. market through all stages of their growth.
Marcel received his Juris Doctor and Master of Laws from Northwestern University School of Law in Chicago, Illinois. He studied law at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and the Universitá degli Studi di Firenze and obtained his Erstes Juristisches Staatsexamen following his legal studies in Germany. Prior to joining GTC in 2014, Marcel led the corporate transactions group at Bryan Cave’s Phoenix office. Previously, he was an associate with Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati in Palo Alto, where he specialized in mergers and acquisitions, venture capital financings and general corporate representation. He is admitted to practice law in Arizona, California and Illinois and serves as General Counsel to the Arizona State University Foundation for A New American University.
