GTC Law Group & Affiliates’ Tony Decicco and Wael Nackasha presented at a webinar hosted by the Board Risk Committee titled “Generative AI and Software Development: Managing the Risks While Leveraging the Opportunity”.

Tony and Wael guided risk managers and board directors through the world of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI), focusing on maximizing its potential and applications, as well as managing the associated risks within their organizations.

This webinar provided an introduction to GAI and its applications, with a focus on using GAI tools (such as GitHub Copilot, Amazon CodeWhisperer and ChatGPT) for code generation and augmentation, particularly from a legal perspective, covering:

• An introduction to GAI and its use to generate software code, text and images
• A ‘demo’ of some GAI tools
• An overview of recent litigation and community reactions
• A discussion of the benefits and risks, with a focus on legal risks
• Strategies and best practices for risk mitigation, and related policies and procedures
